University Admission Preparation Program
Do you want...
• Conditional admission to a UCR undergraduate
degree
• An academic foundation program that will prepare
you to be a successful UCR student
• Advanced English training that will help you
communicate effectively
• SAT and TOEFL preparation
UCR welcomes applications from top international
students for direct entry to a UCR undergraduate
program. However, high SAT or ACT scores are
required (must be completed by December of your
grade 12 year), in addition to a TOEFL score.* For
students who meet the academic requirements for
admission (below), but who have not completed the
SAT and/or TOEFL requirements prior to graduation,
International Education Programs offers you a unique
opportunity to gain admission to the University of
California, Riverside.
The UCR-Admission Preparation Program (UCR-APP) is a one year foundation program offered each September that combines advanced level English study and academic skills preparation with the opportunity to take UCR credit classes, which are fully transferable to your UCR undergraduate program.
Students who wish to apply for the UCR-Admission Preparation Program must meet the Undergraduate Admission Academic Requirements (below) and present a TOEFL 530 (or equivalent). Successful applicants will be offered conditional admission to UCR (the conditions the student must meet are to successfully achieve the SAT and/or TOEFL requirements by the end of the UCR-Admission Preparation Program) and direct admission to the UCR-Admission Preparation Program for 9 months of integrated studies, from September to June. Quarter one focuses primarily on improving your advanced English language and study skills with a focus on preparing you to become a successful academic student at UCR. Coursework includes SAT and TOEFL preparation and class options.
To ensure success in university courses, students will have a graduated study path to campus credit courses. In quarter two, successful students will be permitted to take up to 9 academic credits and up to 12 academic credits in quarter three (subject to availability and pre-requisites), which are fully transferrable to your UCR degree program. An optional fourth quarter of study can be taken by those students who need extra assistance before entering their undergraduate program at UCR.
